Stamp Duty Valuations

 

Stamp Duty is generally defined as the tax payable on the transfer of an asset such as property between two parties.

In order to complete an ownership transfer, the Office of State Revenue will require a registered Property Valuer to complete a Valuation report to confirm the ‘Market Value’ of the property as it is typically not being sold on the open market and the ownership is usually being transferred between related parties.

i.e parents transferring ownership of a property to their children with the sale not deemed as an arm’s length transaction and hence why a Valuation is required.
